Details: SUMMARY: Two positive coliforms DETAILS: Two of 5 temporary routine samples present. It was thought that previous positives were due to sampling at frost free hydrants. Made site visit 11/3 and met Larry and Cary to look at how both wells are plumbed. New well on Carys property is much larger that the old well and therefore overcomes the pressure from the old well and as a result Carys well provides nearly 100% of water if both wells are on. This explains the variation in nitrate results. If Carys well is on nitrates are near 0 and if it is off the old wells nitrates are elevated. Cary will be installing flow meters on both discharge lines to see if they can better blend the sources. I emailed Larry positive coliform public notice templates on 11/10. We also discussed locating the well log for Carys well and he is confident that the well driller Sam Olson can find it. If not, Sam recalls the installation and may be able to recreate the log. Larry Carey is also looking for well log. We discussed increased sampling for coliforms if not log can be found. Called Larry 12/8/and reminded to get me a copy of public notice and let me know current status. ACTION NEEDED: Keep looking for well log. Take 5 temporary routine samples before end of December and get me a copy of public notice for coliform violation.
