Details: | SUMMARY: Met with New Bridge WS Board and Richland City Council DETAILS: A meeting was held to discuss connecting the New Bridge Water District to the City of Richland water system for use as an emergency source. Attendence included (see attached list for all attendees) Dave Wildman of Anderson-Perry engineers, who had completed a water system study for New Bridge in 2004. Also attending were several members of the New Bridge board, including Sherri Kvamme, and Del & Doris Stone. Members of the City of Richland council, including Mayor Richard Pedersen, Marvin Schaber, and Debi Duggan, city staff Gary Chamberlin & Jenny Gulick. The New Bridge system now has 20 connections with meters, but just a few are year-round use. The existing well has been adequate for water supply the last few years, but New Bridge would like to have a reliable emergency back-up source. It has not been feasible to develop and additional well as back up. The New Bridge reservoir is a good design for contact time with an inlet in the top, and a perforated collection pipe in the bottom circumference. The surface water treatment requirements were reviewed, and a chlorine booster may be be required as part of the connection facility. There is an existing 1 1/2 - inch pipeline stubbed out from the reservoir inlet line and that line would be extended approximately 600 ft. to connect to the City. ACTION NEEDED: The entire Richland City Council will review the issue in the near future to determine if an agreement can be reached that is acceptable to both entities. |
