Details: | SUMMARY: Inspected polyphosphate treatment system & reviewed system operations DETAILS: Ryan Zastrow of Union County conducted the routine water system survey. The treatment operation at the main well was reviewed. In addition to Ryan, others present included Bonita Hebert, mayor-- Jim Hebert, operator-- and Ralph Riomando, contract DRC. The polyphosphate is All-Quest 105. The solution feed pump has a maximum rate of 0.42 gph and was set at 60% speed and 90% stroke. The output is therefore 0.6 x 0.9 x 0.42 = 0.23 gph. The well pumps at 900 gpm and the target polyphosphate dose is 1.0 mg/l. This would require a solution that is 24% polyphosphate, but the percent solution is unknown because of product propriety. The City needs to aquire a polyphosphate test kit. The engineering firm of Curran-McLeod is working on a water system master plan and they have made some recommendations regarding the treatment. ACTION NEEDED: City to obtain test kit and monitor polyphosphate levels. Engineer/City to submit Master Plan to DWP and Union County Health Dept. when completed. |
