Details: | SUMMARY: Water System Coliform Positives DETAILS: Highland Subdivision has 126 connections that serve 300 people. The system consists of 4 wells, 3 of which are in operation, and 2 concrete reservoirs. The smaller of the two reservoirs in 40,000 gallons and the larger reservoir is 60,000 gallons. Wells 3 and 4 connect directly into the distribution system. Well 1 has a dedicated line to the reservoir and well 2 has been capped. System has intermittent positive coliform results. Well 4 has often been the location of the positive results and this well also will run dry during the summer months. Another potential problem is the lack of storage capacity. HBH was contacted by Crook County due to repeat Coliform positives. I met with Mr Yoder at the water system to discuss various methods by which by which Coliform could be introduced into the water system. Recommended that use of well 4 be limited to emergency only as it is a low producer and it appears to be a likely source of the coliform problem. Discussed shortage of reservoir if the water system desires to provide 3 hours of fire protection. ACTION NEEDED: Work with water system on other items, including additional reservoir storage. |
