Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic in Source Well DETAILS: The City provides water to approximately 75 persons through 39 connections. The water system consists of a single well with a water softener. The water softener currently removes iron and reduces hardness. HBH was originally contacted by Bill Fujii with Oregon Water Resources Dept regarding arsenic levels exceeding the MCL. HBH was subsequently contacted by the DWP and the system to provide emergency assistance in determining the best course of action for the City to take to reduce arsenic levels. I corresponded with the City of Prescott and D H S regarding arsenic control options. After receiving information on adsorption media, it became clear that this option was well beyond the financial means on the citizens. HBH then coordinated with a membrane treatment plant manufacturer for a proposal. In addition, HBH researched arsenic researched arsenic disposal requirements as they related to the City. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to assist with selection of proper treatment and/or operational options to achieve compliance with Arsenic MCL. Consider Point-of Use options for the City if acceptable to Drinking Water Program. |
