Details: | SUMMARY: False high turbidity incident DETAILS: Ben had called the OERS line over the weekend about a high turbidity reading. Their CFE reading peaked at 0.66 NTU. The first unusually high reading was at 11:23 on Friday 3/12, and the plant was shut off on Saturday around 4 pm. After looking into the situation, he realized that the other operator had cleaned and flushed the turbidimeter (routine maintenance) and didnt turn the flow back down. The flow through the turbidimeter was reduced, and the turbidity immediately dropped back down. The IFE readings the entire time never got above 0.07 NTU, and no other problems with treatment occurred. ACTION NEEDED: I told Ben to write a summary of the incident, include data from the SCADA system, but to record the highest IFE readings for the days of the 12th and 13th on their SWTR report. We also discussed why an alarm didnt notify them of the situation. He said it has been down and they are having someone come out later this week, but this should be followed up on. |
