Details: | SUMMARY: Customer Complaint of Dirty Water DETAILS: Spoke with Scott regarding quick fouling of the pre-filter on his homes RO treatment unit, musty smelling water, and staining of plumbing fixtures. His home is on the end of a dead end line and there is no blowoff or hydrant to flush the line. I explained that these are aesthetic issues that are not regulated under public health rules. Followed up by speaking with the citys operator, Mark. There had been an ISO test of hydrant flows last week that stirred up sediments in the water mains. There are plans to either add a blowoff to the end of the dead end line or else eliminate the dead end by looping it into another line, but there is no specific timeline for doing this. I asked that Mark keep a log of customer complaints and the citys responses. I recommended collecting Iron and Manganese samples at the source to check those concentrations. The city council will hear about the water quality complaint at the May 12th council meeting and may provide direction. ACTION NEEDED: none at this time |
