Details: | Ashland's raw source water sample collected Monday 8/31/20 came back with a total microcystins result of 1.68 ug/L. This is above the trigger level of 0.3 ug/L so they are required to collect a finished water sample with 1 business day, and start weekly raw & finished cyanotoxins monitoring beginning next week. We suspect that a new seasonal source of lower quality they are using this year, the Talent Irrigation Ditch, may be the cause. As a precaution, they have discontinued use of this source. Ashland collected and shipped the finished water sample Thursday 9/3/20, so results might be available Friday 9/4/20. Update 9/4/20: finished water sample was non-detect for cyanotoxins. Update 9/10/20: 9/8 weekly samples not received by DEQ probably due to fires (and only raw, not finished sent). Ashland will resample raw and finished 9/10, freeze, and ship w/next week's samples on 9/14. Update 9/18/20: 9/10 samples arrived ok since they were frozen, but 9/14 samples exceeded 48 hour hold time; Ashland to resample raw and finished today 9/18 and send with next week's weekly samples on 9/21/20. Update 9/21/20: 9/10 raw and finished samples were both non-detect. |
