Details: | SUMMARY: Update on Water Treatment Plant Improvements DETAILS: Ted returned by phone call regarding a request by DWP for status update relating to water treatment plant improvements. Ted indicated that their plans have changed. They originally thought that they would be replacing their old conventional package plant with a new membrane plant. However, due to the quality of the raw water, in particular the concentrations of manganese and iron, the manufacturer determined that pretreatment was necessary - oxidation/settling/filtration which the District cannot afford. In discussing options with Civil West Engineering, it was decided that a conventional package plant with meeting their needs and also would be compatible with the raw water quality. They are considering either the Water Boy or the WesTech plants (WesTech has upflow clarifier). Regardless of the plant selection, pre-oxidation with potassium permanganate is planned to address Mn/Fe issues. Civil West is reviewing these options and will make a final recommendation soon. Ted understands that we will need to review and approve plans and specifications prior to construction. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time. |
