Details: | SUMMARY: Boil Notice Follow Up DETAILS: Toby, Joseph Federico and Ron Price and I discussed follow up to a 5/27/10 e.coli positive sample at the well, with a history of total coliform positives in the distribution, last was on May 19. System was instructed on 6/1/10 to take five confirmation samples at the well. We discussed that given the TC+ in the distribution, shallow well, no well log, limited contact time for disinfection, that we should use our discretion and require a boil water notice with the initial E.coli + source sample. Given chlorine residuals are currently low, we discussed having system immediately boost chlorine and take follow up bacti samples in the system. ACTION NEEDED: County to take tier 1 boil public notice template to system on 6/2/10 to have posted in locations around tavern, with a copy sent to DWP. System to be requested to take five confirmation coliform samples at the well. County to instruct system to boost chlorine right away, to obtain up to a 2 mg/l residual in the system. System to take follow up distribution bacti samples. Consideration to lifting boil when distribution samples return coliform absent and system maintains high residual with an approved test kit. CTs would need to be evaluated. DWP to review Source Water Assessment report and area wells for insights on well construction - no well log for tavern. This, combined with follow up sampling, will impact decisions on longer term corrective action required. DWP to continue to provide support through resolution of situation. |
