Details: | SUMMARY: Technical Assistance for Lead A.L. Exceedance DETAILS: System requested HBH for assistance with options for complying with LCR due to lead action level exceedence (0.0219 mgl) in samples collected 8/21/09. It appears that classroom #1 sink faucet is the only site that exceeded the action level in that round of samples. Previous sample results indicated elevated lead levels at individual sites. WQP and lead source water samples have been collected. The pH level is very low, 6.2, and alkalinity is relatively high at 96 mgl. Compliance with the LCR is required by Linn County Health Department and DWP. I met with Paul on site to observe WQP collection by Analytical Lab and obtain field readings for pH and temperature. I wanted a new round of WQP’s to see of any seasonal variation is present. The pH level had risen to 6.74 in distribution and 7.0 in the raw untreated water. I used Oct 09 WQP’s to determine DIC and treatment options from the Guidance Manual for Lead and Copper Strategies. I talked with Darin Skuff, Carus Corp, regarding what chemical treatment may work for them. I researched plumbing profile requirements and low lead products on NSF/ANSI STD 61 plus Annex G listings. I plan to compile all information obtained and produce a report with treatment recommendations to the district. ACTION NEEDED: Complete written proposal for the system and meet with them for discussion. |
