Details: SUMMARY: Alert fecal coliform source confirmed DETAILS: Spoke with Sam today regarding the 5 repeat confirmation samples taken 7/26/10 from the well. 4 out of the 5 samples came back fecal coliform present. This confirms the well has fecal contamination and under the GWR corrective action and public notice is now required. We discussed the level of treatment that is currently at the facility, chlorination with a 3,000 gallon storage tank and 550 gallons in plugged flow transmission line. A conservative contact time calculation was done and shows that a minimum of 0.65 mg/L chlorine residual is neededat the EP to achieve a CT of 6. Sam is currently keeping the chlorine levels ata the EP at 1.1 mg/L. This should be more than enough to provide 4.0 log inactivation treatment. Sam is taking a distribution sample today to determine if a Boil water notice or a tier 2 notice will be posted. If the distribution sample comes back clean then a tier 2 notice will be posted, If it comes back with either total coliform present or fecal present, a boil water notice will be issued. I emailed both notice templates to him as well as informed Lane county health dept and requested the DWP regional geologist to do a well evaluation. ACTION NEEDED: collect distribution sample, post approprate public notice. Discontinue monthly source sampling.
