Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed repeat coliform sampling DETAILS: Steve called to notify DWP that he had received notification that a coliform sample had been found to be positive for total coliform. He had already collected 3 repeat samples. We had a lengthy discussion about triggered source water monitoring. Regulations require a sample to be collected at each groundwater source in use at the time the positve sample was collected. Dayton was using only its springs at the time the sample was collected, and for the previous 24 hours, according to Steve. Steve stated the system has 5 springs and one collection box where the water is consolidated before treatment. After discussions with Carrie Gentry and Gary VanderVeen, I gave Steve the option of collecting one sample at the collection box or one at each of the 5 springs, but if the sample is E. coli positive at the collection box, then the system must collect one sample at each spring. We also discussed the age of the spring boxes and the liklihood that some may be contaminated due to construction deficiencies. ACTION NEEDED: Await sample results from the repeat distribution and triggered source water samples. The system is also currently working on a new master plan and corrective action plan for upgrading the construction of the springs. |
