| Details: | SUMMARY: Alert for ethylbenzene and zylenes: above alert level, not above MCL: CHEM 4385 DETAILS: 9/28/10: Spoke to Mike who oversees the operations of the water system. We discussed possible sources of contamination and sampling error. He said he would discuss proper sampling techniques with his employees and ensure that they wash their hands before samples are taken. Per Daniel Hough, a confirmation samples will be taken because the detection was most likely die to sampling error. 10/04/10: Spoke to the operator, Jane McCord. She said that the original sample was taken in a "work shop" in the presence of diesel and other chemicals. We discussed an alternative sampling point and confirmed that the chemical alert level was due to sampling error. ACTION NEEDED: Ensure confirmation sample is below the MCL, if not quarterly sampling enforced. | ||
