| Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed water system at Upper Columbia Mill DETAILS: Mr. Schooler returned my voice-mail message from yesterday regarding pending enforcement against the Upper Columbia Mill water system. Firstly, Mr. Schooler clarified that Greenwood Tree Farm owns the mill itself, and that Collins Pine Company is only contracted to operate the saw mill at the site. He said that Don Rice is the appropriate person to sign an agreement for the water system. Mr. Schooler also clarified that everyone at the mill uses bottled water for drinking and food preparation, and that there is clear signage to this effect at the mill. Bill Goss has said the same thing after visiting Upper Columbia Mill. I explained that EPA policy doesnt allow bottled water as a long term solution to exceedance of a MCL exceedance or other water standard. Mr. Schooler wanted to confirm that our regulations dont consider the economic impact of compliance with a MCL, which I stated they do not. ACTION NEEDED: I will await a response from Kerry Hart with a possibly revised draft of the compliance agreement, and will then set the agreement for signing by Don Rice. | ||
