Details: | SUMMARY: Tracer Study Preliminary visit #3 DETAILS: DWP conducted a water system survey in March 2010 and required that a CT study be conducted. System requested assistance from HBH to conduct the study. PLC modification is necessary in order to track and store flow and usage data. Jeff Bruce has been working on modifying the PLC to track flow data and problems have arisen to track gpm with existing PLC and flow instrumentation. I met with Ned Dausel and Jeff Bruce, Portland Engineering, to review PLC modifications that were attempted based on my August visit. Jeff tried to track and calculate GPM flows in order to determine flow rates for the tracer study to be conducted this fall. The flow measurements in the reservoir are pressure and water level based, and has fluctuations that cause too large of a variation track in GPM. Jeff and I agree that 15 minute intervals would be fairly accurate in determining flow rates for the tracer study and would eliminate the large variations in the GPM calculation. I discussed this with Scott Curry, DWP and he will allow this method in determining flow rates for the study. ACTION NEEDED: Determine what the peak demand is for the system based on the new data collection method. Discuss data with Scott Curry and conduct tracer study. |
