Details: SUMMARY: Turbidity over 1 NTU DETAILS: Steve called to inquire about the best response to a recent increase in turbidity caused by heavy rainfall. Source water quality has resulted in the system recording turbidity over 1 NTU after the slow sand filters in more than 5% of the readings for this month. Due to the colloidal nature of the turbidity, Steve does not believe that the system should be considered in exceedance of the MCL and referred to the Drinking Water Programs authority to set a limit higher than 1 NTU for slow sand filters on a temporary basis. I referred the question to Gregg Baird, DWP technical representative for Marion County. ACTION NEEDED: N/A
