| Details: | SUMMARY: SWDRLF Funding Assistance DETAILS: HBH was contacted by system to provide assistance with the reduction of disinfection byproducts. The district has TTHM levels that exceed the annual average MCL. The District has a well with high iron and hydrogen sulfide. Prior to filtration, the raw water is injected with chlorine and potassium permanganate to oxidize the iron and reduce the hydrogen sulfide levels. HBH provided written recommendations for the need to decrease the level of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) prior to the addition of chlorine. Recommendations were made to the operator to eliminate the use of sodium hypochlorite prior to filtration. The addition of an additional filtration step was also recommended. Following the completion of the recommendations, the system requested assistance with SDWRLF funding. HBH provided preliminary cost estimation for the new filtration system addition and assisted the system with the completion of a Letter in Interest (LOI) for the SDWRLF. ACTION NEEDED: Continue funding assistance as needed. | ||
