Details: | SUMMARY: Ecoli in triggered source samples DETAILS: 4 of 5 triggered samples taken directly from the well on 3/9/11 had total coliform present. 3 had Ecoli detections. I contacted Jimmy and advised him to shock chlorinate and flush the well. I also requested they install a chlorinator and maintain 1ppm chlorine residual in the distribution. Once they have established the residual in the distribution they can take some repeat samples in the distribution. If these samples are good the system may be able to remove the boil water notice but for now the boil water notice remains in effect. I also asked Jimmy to take more source samples once they have disinfected and flushed the well and are sure no chlorine remains. This corrective action is only temporary while a permanent corrective action is being determined. State is conducting a formal well evaluation to look for potential sources of contamination. Marion County Health is following up on a report of gastrointestinal illness and fever among some of the residents at the park. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up on will evaluation, system well disinfection and chlorinator installation. Follow up with illness investigation. |
