Details: | SUMMARY: Physical inspection of possible water contamination DETAILS: I went to system and spoke with Scott. I inspected the well head, tight and sealed, and looked for possible surface water sources. There is a small crick about 200 feet away that gets filled during the winter months. The main river is about 400 feet away. Being that the well is 88 ft that is a concern. The whole Camp Sherman areas ground is saturated during the winter months. Other parks around there havent had any positive samples in recent months. Scott shocked the well for 48 hours measuring 5-10ppm chlorine at the faucets. He then flushed it out and the next day Umpqua took a trigger sample (well head) and a special sample at the girls faucet where they got a positive Ecoli. Scott said the school has a dog that stays indoors. Maybe some of the dog got on the kids hands and then they transferred it to the other faucets, possible source for Ecoli. ACTION NEEDED: None until 3-23-11 samples come back. |
