| Details: | SUMMARY: Cooling water spill: Marion County DETAILS: Received OERS report regarding a leaking cooling tower at PPG Industries in Salem. An unknown amount of several chemicals and approx. 1.9 million gal of potable water had been leaking since January 2011. I contacted Tom Pattee in our Springfield office to get his help in determining if any surface or groundwater systems could be affected. His analysis showed that the spill might have occurred within the 2 to 5 yr time of travel for OYA Hillcrests well. I forwarded the OERS report to Marion County Env. Health and asked them to share it with Hillcrest as a fyi. ACTION NEEDED: No further action needed at this time. | ||
