| Details: | SUMMARY: Status of Well #1 DETAILS: I spoke with Mr. Vance this morning to determine the status of Well #1 as it relates to the current plan review for the new 42K storage reservoir. Well #1 is currently physically connected to the water system, but valved off - due to confirmed E.Coli in the well water in November 2010. Therefore, the sole source serving the water is Well #2. Mr. Vance indicated that at the time the new storage reservoir is installed, there will no longer be a pipeline from Well #1 to the new reservoir or the water system. Initially, the WD will keep Well #1 connected to the old 22K gallon storage reservoir, which will be used for fire use only (no connection to the water system - stand alone reservoir for fire fighting that can manually be connected to a fire tanker truck). Mr. Vance also indicated that if funding secured from current home owners, they would eventually like to drill a replacement well for Well #1. They understand that if it is drilled into the same aquifer, that Well #1 must be properly abandoned (to protect aquifer) and that the new well would need to go through plan review with the State Drinking Water Program. Until that time, Well #2 will remain the sole source of potable water for the WD. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time. | ||
