Details: | SUMMARY: Coliform bacteria DETAILS: Edan wrote, 4/27/11 ): Ian said well it is one more year without potable water. Here is my proposal. At BZ corner in Washington we are undergoing the same situation…poor bac-T samples so potable is shut off to the public. Wash State has authorized us to use the system water for flush toilets to the public and for the hosts RV for showering and toilet only. Can we do the same here" That is, have the host hook up to system water with the caveat that he only use it for showering and toilet: That way we only have to haul drinking water for him. Anyway, let me know your thoughts. Ian Responded via phone (4/28/11) You may install a chlorinator and provide residual chlorine to eliminate coliform bacteria from the distribution system. Ian sent email ,4/28/11 to summarize all points covered during the phone conversation. You will have to 1) Shock chlorinate the well - I can help with that if necessary, thoroughly flush the well and ensure no chlorine residual remains in the well or the distribution system. 2) Collect raw sample at the source and one from the distribution. Test for coliform. 3) Submit plans to state. 4) State will reply with conditions. 5) You install the chlorinator. 6) Implement approved coliform sampling schedule. Submit plans to Fred Kalish. Gave Edan information about plan review process. ACTION NEEDED: Submit plans for chlorinator or discontinue using the water system. |
