Details: | SUMMARY: Lead & copper corrosion follow up DETAILS: Chris requested I email him instruction on getting the corrosion control plant approved. The email was sent on 4/27/11 and contained: You should go with the recommendations in HBHs report. Get a mixer and make smaller batches of soda ash. Test and log the pH at the entry point daily while this is getting sorted out. Send me the pH logs every month. Test alkalinity periodically. Do 2 rounds of lead/copper (10 samples each round) along with distribution water quality parameters testing six months apart. It tests pass, we will use the pH data from the monthly reports and set the pH (after the two 6 month rounds are done). The minimum we ever set the pH at is 7.2. It is possible that it could be set lower if the system is showing successful corrosion control at a lower pH. If the tests dont pass the 2 six month rounds, you will need to explore other corrosion control options such as sodium hydroxide like HBH suggested. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up on lead/copper. Set pH for system and future monitoring schedule. |
