Details: | In mid September, I spoke with Jennifer about the recent ASR well bromate detections. She stated both ASR wells have not been supplied with ozonated water from Lake Oswego Tigard Water Supply and the wells are sampled before being treated with sodium hypochlorite (eliminating the ability for the brine solution used for the sodium hypochlorite production to contribute bromide ions). The source of bromate remains unknown. From a public health perspective, I suggested it would be wise to track and sample the ASR wells as well as the water coming from the Lake Oswego Tigard Water Supply for bromate monthly while they are in use. The system planned to sample the ASR wells the last week of September and during their recent WSS it was identified that ASR Well #1 was last injected in ~2015 with water supplied from the PWB (00657) meanwhile ASR Well #2 was last injected in ~2016 with water supplied from Lake Oswego Municipal (00457). UPDATE 10/27/2020: Both ASR wells were sampled on 9/30/20 and had non-detectable bromate levels. |
