| Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed arsenic compliance DETAILS: Mr. Landau called regarding arsenic compliance at the Woodburn Mobile Estates water system. He expressed some skepticism at the idea of the arsenic MCL being as low as 0.010 mg/L. He inquired about an iron removal system resulting in the precipitation of enough arsenic for this system to comply with the MCL. I told Mr. Landau that the end result of a water system producing water below the MCL is our goal, and that we wouldnt stipulate the specific method a water system uses to reach that goal. I did state that the action plan required by the enforcement letter issued on June 2, 2011 requires a plan for arsenic compliance. If the system intends to use iron treatment to remove arsenic, DWP will need to have objective research showing that this is a reasonable course of action. ACTION NEEDED: Await action by the water supplier/system to comply with the arsenic MCL. | ||
