Details: | SUMMARY: On going remediation of lead DETAILS: This is to summarize processes to date with lead remediation. In June 2010 the school exceeded the 90th percentile for lead. Operator noted the orthophosphate approved by the state for corrosion control was old and not effective. It was replaced with fresh product. School was placed on a 6 month sampling schedule. Testing in January 2011 also exceeded the 90th percentile for lead. The system requested assistance from the circuit rider program. After several months of fact finding, research and meetings between myself, the circuit rider and the operator, a report was developed by John Potts of HBH. The recommendation was continued with corrosion control and to also conduct a plumbing replacement plan. The site room 4 exceed the action level in August 2010 and room 5 exceeded the action level in January 2011. These faucets were replaced with an ultra low lead. As part of the PRP all potential sites for drinking water were sampled in May 2011. Again one site exceeded the action level and will be replaced. This site will be tested after the replacement and will count as the first 6 month sample. System will be flushed on a regular basis to keep orthophosphate coated on the piping. A copy of the circuit rider report will accompany this contact report. The system will be tested again in 6 months at five approved sites. Results of that round of testing will determine the future sampling schedule. The system was surveyed in June 2011 ACTION NEEDED: Wait for faucet replacement and results of the test. |
