Details: | SUMMARY: CT Tracer Study DETAILS: Scappoose utilizes three different surface water sources-- South Fork Scappoose Creek, Gourley Creek and Lacy Creek. The City also uses two well sites to augment the surface water production-- Miller Road and Dutch Canyon wells. All surface waters are treated at the one location where rapid sand filters with flocculation along with soda ash and chlorine are used to treat the water. Chlorine contact is achieved in either one of the City’s reservoirs (2MG, 1MG). During a recent CT test, the 2 MG reservoir was found to have a 2% baffle factor. Concerns have been raised about the baffle factor of the 1 MG reservoir in the event the 2 MG reservoir is offline. HBH was contacted by the district to provide assistance with a contact tracer study to determine the amount of contact time in the 1 MG reservoir before the first user. HBH met with the City operator on-site to conduct tracer study. Weather conditions had raised the turbidity to a level that the filters could not produce adequate flows for the tracer study.
