| Details: | SUMMARY: Confirmed e-coli in source - boil water notice required DETAILS: I received the results of an e-coli positive confirmation sample taken 11-30-11 while on phone duty. I called and left a message for Joseph Federico with Washington County and then contacted the water system. Jon Christensen with the system called me back and filled me in on the events leading up to today. An e-coli positive Source Assessment sample from 11/30/11 prompted 5 source confirmation samples taken 11/30/11, of which 4 were total coliform positive and 1 was e-coli positive. The system is in the process of making improvements to the spring source, which should be completed within a week or two, however, the current disinfection system has not been confirmed to provide 4.0-log viral inactivation, therefore, a boil water notice is being required. I sent him the Tier one boil notice template to post and since there were only a few people served at this time, I recommended he call them right away to let them know not to drink the water. ACTION NEEDED: System to post boil water notice and follow up with plan review requirements and subsequent sampling as required by Joseph Federico (Washington County), Carrie Gentry (DWP) and Gregg Baird (DWP). | ||
