| Details: | SUMMARY: Elevated HAA5 in Distribution DETAILS: I called Tony to discuss the quarterly trend in HAA5 in distribution sampling in this water system. Tony was also aware of the increasing trend. However, the current running annual average remains below the MCL. I asked if anything was different regarding operations or water quality entering the system. Tony explained that prior to the last quarterly sampling - the system was having a hard time maintaining chlorine residual and was increasing the chlorine. At some point the chlorine demand fell, and resulted in a significant elevation in chlorine residual as measured at the DBPMax01 and 02 locations (typically 0.7 - 0.9 ppm-- elevated level at sampling time was appox. 2.0 ppm) which may explain elevated HAA5. Tony is planning on repeating the sampling once they lower the chlorine residual and will do so as "special samples" and provide me copies of the results. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time - no MCL exceedence. | ||
