Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed arsenic treatment system DETAILS: David called and mentioned that he has determined that there is additional chlorine demand due to "sulfur" bacteria in the raw water. In addition to moving the chlorine injection point further upstream from the point of ferric chloride injection, he has increased the amount of chlorine injected into the treatment process. He stated that this has produced acceptable results with arsenic well below the MCL. The possible downside is that if chlorine demand changes in the future, the water system could be carrying a high chlorine residual into distribution which would likely result in taste and odor issues. Its unlikely chlorine levels would ever exceed the MRDL. ACTION NEEDED: None |
