| Details: | SUMMARY: Positive coliform and positive follow up samples DETAILS: Spoke to Gary, director, who has taken over for Rob Stevens as of 4/1. There have now been five positivce samples since the first routine sample taken on 5/8 all taken from points downstream of the holding tank. They flamed all taps before taking the samples and ran fro at least 5 minutes. Growth suspects the holding tank might be the issuer as it has not been cleaned recently. He says that formerly the samples were all drawn from the tap at the well so thinks there could have been coliform in the distribution system for awhile now that escaped notice. This is peak season so draining and cleaning the tank now would be problematic. He was advised to visually inspect the inside of the tank for residue, then decide if shocking without cleaning would be viable. ACTION NEEDED: He was advised that after chlorinating/diagnosing the distribution system that five more samples would be required over the next month with one being a source sample. He was also advised they would need to issue a tier 2 notice to users within 30 days, a copy of which would need to be forwarded to the state. | ||
