Details: | SUMMARY: follow up to inquiry regarding Black Mountain Water District DETAILS: I followed up on a conversation with Mark after he had spoken to James Nusrala with DWP in Portland. He asked about chlorination procedures and testing required for systems that chlorinate. I told him that we did not have Black Mountain listed as a chlorinated system, however, systems that do continuously chlorinate would be required to test for Disinfection-by-Products. He was concerned that the system was chlorinating at "disinfection" levels. I explained that disinfection levels are over 50ppm and that the system was not doing that. The limit for chlorinated drinking water is 4 ppm. The way the system was chlorinating does not lend itself for proper mixing and there is a likely a chance that some consumers would see more of the chlorinated water than others. He was concerned as another consumer felt there was super chlorinated water coming through her tap. Told him I would follow up with the system to see what their procedures were. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to follow up with Black Mountain Water System. **see next contact report** |
