Details: SUMMARY: Operator phoned to discuss recent nitrate results DETAILS: I had left a message for Chris because he was listed at the contact for the adjacent water system on the same property (North Point Water System, #05973), which had a recent nitrate result of 10.1 mg/L. However, the North Point system is in the process of deactivation. As of a week and a half ago, that portion of the property is now being served by this water system. Chris reported that this cell phone number (above) is the best way to reach him, and wanted to discuss the recent nitrate samples from the Childrens Farm Home system. The results were: 9.9 mg/L at Well 1 (SRC-AA), and 6.1 at Well 2 (SRC-AB). He says they routinely run only Well 1-- Well 2 is a seasonal back-up well. Because they are already conducting quarterly nitrate sampling, the 9.9 result does not trigger any new action on their part by regulation. That status would not change unless their entry point nitrate results are confirmed to be 10.5 or higher, at which point theyd have to take action (e.g., find another source, add treatment, etc.). Chris wants to start considering their options in case it goes that high. I suggested that they might find a way to blend the water from the two wells to reduce the level going to consumers. He said the current plumbing would not allow that-- they can only run one well at a time. He also requested information on nitrate treatment. ACTION NEEDED: Sent Chris information on nitrate treatment options.
