Details: | SUMMARY: Positive coliform DETAILS: Gary called 7/19 saying one of the repeat samples theyd taken as a result of a positive routine taken earlier in the month had come back positive. Whats required at this point? An alert was issued later that day. Met with Gary who came over to the office. He said he suspected the positives were an outgrowth of problems they had experienced earlier in the year with a reservoir that they shocked earlier in the year but did to fully scrub out prior to shocking because they were just heading into peak season. The shocking seemed to have worked temporarily resulting in a clean round of samples in June. His plan was to shock treat the reservoir again and then fully clean and shock the reservoir after peak season. Notices are still posted from the earlier round of positives and he said he would reissue a second notice and forward it to the state. ACTION NEEDED: I called Dan Hough at the state to see what was required. He said that for this system another round of repeats would not be useful. Focus should be on taking corrective action and testing to determine its deficiency. Daniel said that it was uncommon for a system with that large a reservoir not to be using residual chlorination so that could be explored as n option if regular cleaning of the reservoir wasnt working I forwarded this information to Gary Grothe via email today. | ||
