Details: SUMMARY: Positive coliform DETAILS: Email correspondence with Frances 10/1/12 regarding the positive coliform. She indicated they were going to immediately shock chlorinate the system. I reminded her that repeat samples needed to be taken before shock chlorination occurred. She responded saying this is the way they always had done it and that they had only taken one source in the 20-30 years they had been testing the system. They have sampled the well four times as far back as 2005. The system has had coliform issues in 2005, 2006 and 2010 and 2012. I have had correspondence with the system on many occasions regarding repeat testing requirements. I sent Frances an email from April 2012 where she stated that they had followed proper repeat testing procedures. Proper repeat testing procedures were followed in January 2010as well as march 2012. She responded back saying that it was too late they had already shocked the system because her husband was going out of town. She stated they would follow up with five temporary routine distribution samples. This is a state regulated water system ACTION NEEDED: continue to work with system to follow proper repeat testing procedures. Monitor the results of the follow up temporary routine distribution samples. Work with the system to monitor state website for their coliform sampling schedule.
