Details: SUMMARY: CT Tracer Study DETAILS: The City of Vernonia has a surface water treatment plant which pulls water from Rock Creek. The surface water is treated with rapid sand filters with flocculation along with soda ash and chlorine is used to treat the water. The plant is able to produce as much as 700 gpm, with 900 gpm being delivered from the clearwell. Chlorine contact is achieved in an approximately 30,000 gallon clearwell before the water is sent to the distribution system (and first user). HBH was contacted by the City to provide assistance with a contact tracer study. A previous effort was made at a contact tracer study, but operational changes were needed for a successful test. HBH performed tracer testing at 700 gpm WTP production and 910 gpm out of clearwell. Following test, coordinated with James Nusrala regarding testing at reduced flows. ACTION NEEDED: Complete data collection at some reduced flow. Work with water system to ensure compliance with disinfection requirements.
