Details: | SUMMARY: Response to drainage into Cow Creek DETAILS: I spoke to an individual who complained about a black liquid discharge flowing in a ditch into Cow Creek, near the Brown Road bridge in Glendale, that he spotted in the morning of 12/17. He had contacted the City, been referred to Douglas County, and I was eventually notified through OHAs public health duty officer. I consulted DWS emergency spill maps, and then notified Ned with the City of Glendale about the complaint at 11 a.m. as the Citys intake is downstream on Cow Creek. He inspected the area and called me back around 2 pm. He saw a black, humic material entering the creek at that location, but did not see any oil sheen. Ned indicated that he is not worried as the Citys intake to their infiltration gallery has a screening mechanism and that there appeared to be a fair amount of dilution given the higher flows in the creek. ACTION NEEDED: DWS to forward any OERS report to Ned if we receive it. No OERS report as of 2:30 on 12/17. DWS to offer support as appropriate to the City. |
