| Details: | I received a report from Edge Analytical in Corvallis that the Alpine Water Company submitted a routine distribution sample that was coliform and e-coli positive. I spoke to Tanner Gibson the testing contractor for the water system. He stated that his employee is helping him with sampling and he felt that their maybe issues with sampling procedures. The water system had a similar issue in March of 2016. Tanner stated he will take the required follow up samples himself. We discussed three repeat distribution samples with emphasis on an up stream sample,an downstream sample, one from the original site that tested positive and a triggered source sample. We discussed the triggered source sample will be credited to the required annual assessment sample. We will discuss next steps when the follow up sample results are completed. We discussed increasing the chorine residual slightly as an added protective measure after the follow up samples are taken. I discussed the situation and follow up with Shawn Stevenson from the Drinking Water Program Springfield office. On 12/24 I received a voice mail from the local lab that the three repeat distribution samples and the triggered source sample were not submitted. I left a voice mail for the point of contact Jeanne Lindsey. I spoke with Jeanne Lindsey on Sunday 12/27. She confirmed that the chlorine residual had been increased. My recommendation out of an abundance of precaution and lack of follow up samples was to post a boil water notice. I sent her the template. I will reach out to her to verify that the notice was distributed. I have texted with the contractor to verify that the repeat samples and triggered source samples are being submitted today. |
