Details: SUMMARY: ALERT: Total Coliform Positive (MCL) - 3 of 5 samples positive DETAILS: Around lunch time on 4/12/13, David Stolhand contacted our office to report that 3 of 5 microbiological water samples (4 routine & 1 assessment) collected from the system were positive for total coliforms. Locations included: (1) ‘Spring Source’, (2) ‘4680 Portland Dr bth snk’ and (3) ‘2451 Kingsley Rd bth snk’.This is a confirmed MCL for total coliform. There is no need for ‘repeat’ sampling. The operator expressed interest in re-doing the tests-- he planned to collect water from the same locations. We advised him that this was an appropriate action.It appears that the system has either not been fully sanitized or has not been repaired with acceptable sanitary seal. At present complete as-built plans have not been forwarded to the state, James Nusrala. Co Health department advised operator to keep the boil water advisory in effect for the time being. 4/15/13 sent the operator email. See file. ACTION NEEDED: The operator was directed to submit all requested materials to the State Drinking Water program in order to ‘compete’ the process for reviewing the recent spring re-construction. The boil water advisory will not likely be lifted without a construction ‘approval’.Due to this coliform MCL, the system will remain on a increased sampling schedule for total coliforms (5 routine samples per month).Hood River County Health Department recommended that the operator re-chlorinate the system, allow the residual to dissipate (0-chlorine residual) and then collect a new round of tests to verify that the system is free of microbiological contaminates. This will likely take several days to complete.
