Details: | SUMMARY: TC+ at source DETAILS: On 8/1/13 I visited the water system and operators because they had a TC+ in the distribution in July and they are new operators at this facility. I took a free chlorine reading of 0.1ppm. They did not have a way to test for the chlorine residual and I advised them to purchase a HACH DPD kit. The lid to the 1100gallon holding tanks was off, and the water had leaves and was very turbid. The followup samples came back in on 8/1/13 while I was out there and they got a positive TC at the well. I talked to them over the phone this morning about chlorinating the well and the holding tank and the proper procedure for that. I emailed them all the documentation for that process. When I was out there they were talking about making system upgrades, I gave them Rebecca Templins number to talk with regarding plan review. While I was looking at the system I noticed its fairly close to the drainfield and is also close the the smith river. Daniel Hough talked to Jessica on 8/2/13 about the system and he reccomended they take monthly source water assesments, and serve only bottled water to patrons. I reccomended to the operator that they turn the chlorine residual up to 0.8ppm. When I was talking to the operator about drilling a new well he stated they did not own the property across the road which would protect the well from the low lands from flooding, the septic drainfield and the river water intrusion. ACTION NEEDED: Look at the source water samples after the chlorination of the system to see if that helps provide clean water. | ||
