Details: | SUMMARY: LCR Excursion DETAILS: I received this email from the operator:Lawrence Subdivision Water Association, PWS# 00474 incurred excursions for corrosion control in July. The mixer motor on the tank was running and when the solution tank got below 20 gallons. This created a vortex which caused the pump to lose prime. It was caught on Thursday the 25th and the pump was re-primed but there was probably a little air left in the suction line causing the pump to lose prime over the weekend. The pH reading was low again on Monday, the pump was re-primed, and a good pH reading was obtained on Tuesday the 30th. The readings were: (7/22 – 7.2), (7/25 – 6.5), (7/29 – 6.6), & (7/30 – 7.4)Joe Anthony was monitoring the system while I took vacation. We mixed caustic before I left for vacation and I didn’t anticipate the increased demand created by the warm weather. I neglected to inform him of the possibility that vortexing could occur when the tank level dropped below 20 gallons. He is now aware of the vortexing issue, and new caustic was mixed on Tuesday eliminating the possibility of this happening again. ACTION NEEDED: none | ||
