Details: | SUMMARY: TC confirmed in repeats-- MCL violation for coliform, what to do next DETAILS: Of the four "repeat" samples, the one taken directly at the spring was positive for TC. Thus, there is an MCL violation under the Total Coliform Rule. I spoke with Marty about how the bacteria might be getting to the drinking water. He has concerns about the "big timbers" down in the spring box (which might harbor bacteria), and that perhaps tree roots have been able to breach the sides of the springbox. I asked whether he has inspected the springbox recently - No. He will open the manhole-style access hatch and look around inside as best he can with lights. I said I would send him guidance on how to disinfect (shock chlorinate) the springbox and system, which he may need to do once any problems identified have been remedied. I also reminded him that 5 temporary routines are due during the month of October, but he should wait until 5 days after any disinfection steps to take those. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of springbox inspection. Email operator DWS guidance on disinfecting components of small water systems. | ||
