| Details: | SUMMARY: Confirmation detections for Ethylbenzene and Xylenes from EP-A (Slow Sand Plant) DETAILS: I received an alert on 9/30/13 about a detection of Xylene at 0.0071 mg/l and Ethylbenzene at 0.00080 mg/l from VOC sampling conducted at EP-A (slow sand plant) on 9/18/13. I advised that they take a confirmation sample as soon as possible to determine if quarterly monitoring is needed. Eric Bufkin called on 11/4/13 to let me know that the results still showed a detection of Xylenes at 0.0022 mg/l and Ethylbenzene at 0.0006 mg/l at EP-A from sampling conducted on 10/16/13. I explained to Eric that quarterly monitoring would be needed, but that the Sept 18th sample and the Oct 16th sampling could be considered two quarters worth of sampling, since what we are looking at is to get samples representing seasonal changes every quarter. A letter dated 11/4/13 regarding "VOC/SOC Detections and Quarterly Monitoring" was sent to the system documenting the results and required monitoring. ACTION NEEDED: System to sample quarterly for Xylenes and Ethylbenzene at EP-A for at least the next two quarters (1st and 2nd quarter 2014). Monitoring to be re-evaluated once results representing 4 consecutive calendar quarters are obtained (3rd and 4th quarter 2013 and 1st and 2nd quarter of 2014). | ||
