| Details: | SUMMARY: EC+ Alert Response DETAILS: Received alert late on 11/7/13 for EC positive result from the routine sample collected 11/5/13. The sample was collected by local lab staff, and the chlorine residual was not measured at the time the sample was collected. Ali was recently hired as the new park manager. Spoke with Ali. She only had a pool chlorine test kit, and it showed no color when she checked a sample over the phone. I asked her to look at the chlorinator. The feed pump was running, but the solution in the tank was low. I advised her to replenish the chlorine solution in the tank and to try checking for a residual later in the evening. She was able to detect a residual that evening. On the morning of 11/8/13 I drove to the system and measured a chlorine residual of 1.1 mg/l which is well above the required 4-log minimum of 0.5 mg/l. No boil order required due to the adequate residual. Reviewed basics of operating the chlorinator with Ali. Drove with Ali to meet with owner Nancy Shaw. Reviewed the systems operations. Left a spare DPD chlorine test kit for Ali to use until one can be ordered. ACTION NEEDED: PWS to collect four repeat samples on Tuesday 11/12/13. No source sample required, as the source has been confirmed contaminated. PWS to obtain DPD chlorine test kit. | ||
