Details: | SUMMARY: Well modifications and compliance DETAILS: Karen sent email 1. The well can be raised to meet the requirement of 12” above grade and 2’ above the 100-year flood plain. You can accomplish this one of in two ways. First by converting the well into a pitless adapter, filling the vault, re-routing the electrical box, and installing a barricade around the wellhead. Second, by keeping a standard wellhead and providing protective housing over the top and installing a barricade around the housing. Engineered plans for either of these options must be submitted to my department before making a change to assure compliance with the construction standards.2. Plans can be submitted for the well as it exists today along with an application for waiver from the construction standards. Wells in vaults have been approved in the past provided the drain to daylight is screened and the well is not subject to flooding. Given that the OSU Crew Docks well is subject to flooding currently, your waiver application must clearly state how it will meet the provisions therein. At this point, a written corrective action plan is needed showing what option you want to pursue and what your timeframe for completing the work will be. In addition, the corrective action plan must also address any remaining deficiencies noted in the Water System Survey conducted by Alyson Reynolds last spring. If you have any questions about these options or the plan review process, please contact our Plan Review Coordinator, Jay MacPherson (541-726-2587 ext. 57). ACTION NEEDED: none |
