Details: | SUMMARY: E coli Corrective Action Meeting DETAILS: Sarah Puls and Casey Lyons met with Mel Neu and Tanna Miller with the White Branch Camp on 11/13/14 to discuss the confirmed E-coli issue with the water at the camp. After discussing the water system it was discovered that the camp had been using an undeveloped spring for their drinking water and not using the well. The spring water is allowed to run off along the ground before it is collected causing the e coli issues. The camps well does not yield enough water for reliable use with the pump set up that they have. The camp would like to use the spring since it does yield enough water to supply the camp and would like to continue to use the well for back up or emergency use. I informed Mel he would need to go through plan review for the spring and develop it properly with a spring box. The system also has an unapproved UV light, Mr. Neu was also told to submit all the plans for the UV light and have that approved as well. They are going to get the well back up and running with a different pump and begin 12 months of source sampling to show the well is clean. I sent Mr. Neu an e-mail with the construction standards for the Spring Box and the UV light and the Plan Review contact information. ACTION NEEDED: Waiting for Mr. Neu to give us an updated project completion date, snow in the area will prohibit work on the project the system was encouraged start ASAP to get it done prior to the snow. |
