Details: | SUMMARY: ALERT: COLI12181 DETAILS: Sample from 9/24/13 showed presence of e. coli. I spoke by phone to Ms. Bowman and discussed concerns re e. coli and follow-up sampling requirements. She stated water level in well has been extremely low due to this years low precipitation and postulated possible correlation w/ e. coli result. Verified daily chlorine residual to typically read around 1.2 mg/l. Discussed: Water for consumption at day care comes from commercial supplier. Well water brought to a minute rolling boil it would be safe for cooking, but unboiled should not be used for washing produce. Water coming from well is essentially only used for washing, but she would provide sanitizer towelettes for extra measure of protection following hand washing. without waiting for confirmation sample results Ms. Bowman expected to follow through on each above point. She has also posted a notice to parents using her daycare re the issue. Rules for follow-up samples: ASAP 4 repeats from home & 1 source sample from well. Next month 5 temporary routine samples taken from home. (Note, as Mr. Bowman has already poured chlorine bleach into the well its important to flush any affected water through prior to next samples.) ACTION NEEDED: 4 repeat samples ASAP1 source sample ASAP5 temporary routine samples in October | ||
