Details: | SUMMARY: clarified public and a private water systems, and the monthly source assessment requirement DETAILS: Lonnie phoned me a couple weeks back (11/19/13?) when he received a positive TC result and spoke to his lab. He phoned here because Daniel Hough (no longer at DWS) had been his contact before, when surface water was involved. Being new to this system, I had to catch up on the research that Daniel Hough did in 2012 which determined there is a public and a private (two few people) water system present at their MHP. The public one is connected to a well, and the private one to "springs" that were actually surface water. Lonnie was concerned because Umpqua Lab told him he should be doing monthly assessment sampling at the well. It turns out, that was correct according to our database, but apparently Daniel did not notify Lonnie properly when he made that determination in late 2012. My email to Lonnie today said he will receive a notification letter from our hydrogeologist re: the monthly source sampling requirement for the public system. I pasted in examples of how to mark the lab form for the source samples. I also clarified that any private water system samples should be marked "special" and not submitted to us. A coliform sampling plan for the public system (template attached) should help him focus on what PWS samples need to be taken where. I asked him to phone me regarding the recent positive routine sample, because no follow up samples have been submitted. ACTION NEEDED: Clarify as needed if Lonnie contacts me about this set of information. Shelley Stewart of Douglas was notified to assist Lonnie in developing a Coliform Sampling Plan for the public water system. Tom Pattee will send out the letter re: monthly source assessment sampling under the Groundwater Rule. |
