| Details: | SUMMARY: Nitrate over half MCL DETAILS: A sample collected 5/14/14 came back at 8.65 ppm which is over half the MCL for nitrate (10 ppm). I checked with the lab about the results because they are unusually high considering this is a surface water system with no known nitrate contamination sources nearby (no onsite sewer, no fertilizer runoff)-- the lab confirmed the result. I then left a message for Josh notifying him of the requirement for quarterly monitoring. ACTION NEEDED: System must begin quarterly monitoring for nitrate-- next sample due 3rd quarter 2014 (July/Aug/Sept). Quarterly sampling results will need to show nitrate levels are reliably and consistently below half the MCL in order to return to annual monitoring. | ||
